Henry Carnell is a journalist, producer, and science writer based in Oregon. His work has been published by Mother Jones, The Washington Blade, Quanta, 5280 Magazine, and Oregon State University. It has also been republished by Inside Climate News, Grist, Canada’s National Observer, LGBTQ Nation, and Them.

These days, he helps manage the Climate Desk syndication network and is completing his masters degree in library and information science at University of Washington, focusing on information literacy and digital preservation. He thinks journalism should be an accessible information resource.

Previously, he was a 2024-2025 digital fellow at Mother Jones where he helped launch the Climate Desk weekly newsletter and produced videos that garnered millions of views. Before that, he was a Ben Bagdikian Editorial Fellow at Mother Jones where his investigation into conversion therapy was nominated for a 2025 GLAAD award and a Digital Equity Fellow with The Washington Blade and News is Out.
