Henry Carnell is a journalist and producer based in Oregon. He covers attacks on science, health, and the environment. His work has been published by Mother Jones, The Washington Blade, Quanta, and 5280 Magazine. It has also been republished by Inside Climate News, Grist, Canada’s National Observer, LGBTQ Nation, and Them.

He was a 2024-2025 digital fellow at Mother Jones where he helped launch the Climate Desk weekly newsletter and produced videos that garnered millions of views. Before that, he was a Ben Bagdikian Editorial Fellow at Mother Jones and a Digital Equity Fellow with The Washington Blade and News is Out.

In addition to freelance reporting projects, he is now completing his masters degree in library and information science at University of Washington.
